Red Fort: The Architectural Wonder of Delhi

The first place that I decided to visit after check in at my hotel was the Red Fort. I was always fascinated with this fort after seeing it in many movies and Independence Day parades. The red fort as we all know was built by the mughal emperor Shah jahan. The construction of this architectural wonder started in the year 17th century which took almost 9 years to complete. It is an architectural wonder and one of the most visited tourist spots in the country.

I was quite excited to visit this fort and to peek in the life of those erstwhile Mughal kings who ruled Delhi. The first hall where I went inside the fort complex was the Diwan e Aam, which is the hall for the public. It was here where emperors used to listen to the grievances and complaints of their subjects. The other hall is the Diwan e Khaas which used to be the private audience of the King.

The shahi hammams of the palace was really royal. It was the place where the kings took bath in all their pleasure. There is also a Shahi Burj which used to be the working place of the emperor Shah Jahan. Another fine wonder inside the fort complex is the Moti masjid, a structure which is worth seeing and it was built by Aurangzeb. There is also a Rann mahal which was the palace of the ladies. This place is a visual treat with intricate paintings and mirror work done everywhere.

If you are in Delhi then the first place from where you should start your travel excursion is the Red Fort. It is opened from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 AM to 5:30 PM. The entrance fees is very less with free entry on Fridays. The place offered me much opportunity to click some amazing photographs of the Fort complex, the various sections inside the halls and the paintings on the walls. It was a perfect place to beging my Delhi trip.

After the Red fort trip the next place which I visited was the India Gate.
