I am a Mumbai based businessmen, always busy in my hectic work and thus wanted some break from this hectic schedule to revive myself. As I love nature I always want to go somewhere where I can
relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. After having a tour of some of the most famous churches in the world, I went to see the famous Old Portuguese Aguada Fort Goa which was situated on the beach
of Sinquerim on the shores of Mandori River.
The guide hired before took us inside the fort and explained us that it was constructed to guard against the Marathas and the Dutch. We saw the spring inside the fort which provides fresh water
to the ships passing by in the Arabian Sea. The fort was named “Aguada” which refers to a watering place in
Portuguese. This Portuguese Fort was constructed in the 17th century and has been well preserved since then. I came to know that this fort used to be most crucial and valued fort for the
Portuguese. It is so massive that it covers the total peninsular region located on the south western part of Bardez. I also learnt that this fort was used as a tough prison during the
administration of Salazar and was used for punishing people committing crimes related to drugs.
It has got the capacity to store 2,376,000 gallons of water and it has got a secret escape passage which can be used during emergencies and during war. It reminded me many bollywood scenes which
have been shot here. Recalling the environment of the fort makes me feel awesome. What a cool windy day it was with roaring sea waves. The sea breeze was blowing through my hair and my eyes were
looking at the Sun setting in the Arabian Sea with ships sailing here and there. It was really fabulous, mind blowing and truly speaking, I have no words to explain its beauty. I was refreshed
and overwhelmed and was not willing to leave the place. There were many beautiful and refreshing scenes. Bounded by time we left the place with cherished memories and headed towards the next
