Six years ago, when our neighbour bought himself a Yamaha fz1. I clearly remember, it was a black beauty and we both were in love with it. My brother and I developed an obsession towards Yamaha
bikes. Even after so many years when my brother wanted to buy a bike for himself, he has chosen Yamaha yzf r15.
Initially, I thought he was just fulfilling his childhood dream. However, after a couple of test-drives I must say that it truly delivers what is promised by the manufacturers. So in this blog I am going to tell you how good this bike is and why should you buy it!
This so-called race bike has not only boosted the sales graph but also offered us with affordable racing motorcycles. The launch of yzf r15 has provided an opportunity to middle class individuals who have dreamt of riding a sport bikes. One of the best feature yzf r15 is its budget friendly price. Along with Fz, yzf r15 has changed the game for Yamaha in the motorbike market.
Talking about the feature, this Yamaha beauty is packed with exciting features such as split seat, five spoke alloy wheels, aluminium swing arm, new tail cowl, linked type motocross suspension in the rear and last but on the least Delta box frame, which offers superior rigidity balance.
In terms of performance, the YZF R15 V2.0 has few changes. This new version has made some upgrade in the Engine Control unit (ECU), drivetrain unit and added long aluminium swing arm. However, it has the same liquid-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve, 149.8cc engine that powered the previous bike.
It is not that impressive when it comes to power as it offers 17 PS at 8500 rpm with a maximum torque of 15 Nm at 7500 rpm. Although, I am not that impressed in power department however the ECU upgrades are quite impressive. The changes in ECU mapping has made the power delivery more linear making the V2.0 more fuel-efficient and makes the ride smoother and sporter.
Handling and Riding:
Along with a new swing arm and a 55mm increase on the wheelbase V2.0 provides the best handling. This would be quite beneficial while making those difficult turns.
The new thicker and clingy tyres offers “Superb” road grip and an awesome riding experience. Even the new dual disc brakes are amazing; however, I do miss the ABS on it.
So, my verdict on this new edition of R15 that Yamaha played it safe by keeping all the good features from the older version and made great improvements in various other departments to offer better user experience. Although, I personally feel that it would have turned out to be more amazing with some more power.
For me the R15 V2.0 is a best deal one could get and proved to be an incredible sports bike within its range.
