Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, Kerala - Enriched with Nature

From the national park, I headed towards another thrilling destination, which is known as the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, Kerala. The place is famous for its scenic beauty and is situated in a wide area. Due to its natural beauty and the greenery surrounding the place, it is amongst the favourite tourist destinations in the state. The place is at a distance of 13 kilometres from the Kottayam railway station and around 94 kilometres from the Cochin International Airport. The park is located on the bank of the Vembanad Lake and is spread in 14 acres of land. It is famous for its wide variety of birds and has a great reputation for housing various migratory birds such as egret, teal, heron, Siberian stork, and more. My visit to that place was quite exciting because of the lush-green fields and wooded lands, which surrounded the place.

I could see a unique variety of birds in the sanctuary and came to know that a few came from the Himalayas and Siberia as well. There were various types of Kingfishers that thrilled the dwellers of that place and it was quite a unique experience. There was a sound of midnights, which was known as Pathiramanal, an island on the lake. One could easily take a boat ride to that place. The vast area was the habitat for a variety of migratory birds that came from different parts. The lake was associated with an exciting story as well. I had the unique experience of covering the entire sanctuary on a boat.

I would suggest you to travel on cruise boats in order to get the best experience of the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, Kerala and they are easily available in that area. There were various other birds such as the cuckoo, owl, heron, waterfowl, parrots, larks, wood beetle, teal, and many more. There were various house boats and motor boats were available to cover the whole park and one can easily hire one of them for getting a view of the complete park. The wide range of birds was undoubtedly the major attraction of the place and they were quite beautiful as well.
