After spending a gala time at the Elephant Caves we came back to India Gate at 6 pm. There was still plenty of time left and it was then that my friend suggested visiting Jahangir Art Gallery Mumbai. One of his friends has put up an exhibition of his paintings in one of the halls. I have never been to an art gallery before as adventure tours, wildlife and outdoor activities like para gliding, trekking and bunjee jumping were more interesting to me. So I immediately agreed and hurried on as it closes at 7 pm.
The art gallery was located near the India Gate, behind the Prince of Wales Museum. It consists of 4 exhibition halls. It is open on all days and there is no entrance fee. It is one of the most popular art galleries in Mumbai and many upcoming artists wish to exhibit their works here. Often they had to wait for years to get a chance to put up an exhibition here.
The entrance of the art gallery was very impressive and I saw a large crowd of people waiting to get inside. We too stood in the queue and got in. The oil paintings put by the artist were in the Hacienda Gallery, and they were very beautiful and clearly showed the skill of the artist. I was busy taking photographs of the painting as I was very interested in photography and took pictures wherever I went. A lot of visitors were there appreciating the work of art and I saw that more than half the pictures were already sold out.
After viewing the paintings and visiting other parts of the gallery we went to the Samovar restaurant, which is the most popular restaurant here, and had some snacks and coffee. It was 7 in the evening by the time we came out from the art gallery. Then we spent some time at the India Gate, had dinner and went on a long drive. I really enjoyed visiting Jahangir Art Gallery Mumbai and thanked my friend for taking me there.
