I am an IT Professional who sits before the computer most of the time. I love visiting national parks and forest reserve, being an amateur photographer I capture beautiful creatures and creation. With a never say no attitude, I indulge in trekking and bungee jumping. A Pune trip is always exiting as there is so much to explore and know about its 1600 years old history.
Most of the tourists like to visit Aga Khan Palace which is a historical landmark boasting of spacious lawns and Italian arches. Another prominent attraction in the city is Shaniwar Wada which was built in 1736 and then destroyed by fire in 1827.
Shaniwar wada is a historical, heritage place in Pune. It is a Palace fort located in the heart of Pune city. It was constructed in 1732 as the mansion of the Peshwa and remained the political capital of the Empire until its annihilation. There is a statue of Bajijrao on a horse in front of Shaniwar Wada. I paid a visit to the Darshan Museum to enjoy a light and sound show on the life of Sadhu Vaswani. Shows are in Marathi and English every evening. Bund Garden is for adventure lovers like me to enjoy boating and horse riding. Trekking in the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary is exciting. Looking for some extra thrill I took a ride in a paraglide to behold the panoramic view of the area.
Pune is full of old monuments, museums and plays which host several music and dance festivals. It is a thriving centre for IT and Automobile companies. It is also known as the Destination Queen of the Deccan and Oxford of the East. Surrounded by verdant hills and beautiful lakes, it has a nice climate and is among the greenest urban areas in the country. Pune is slowly becoming a favourite holiday spot due to its exuberant atmosphere and green terrains. People who are planning to visit Pune are advised to visit the city during winters as the weather is quite charming and pleasant. A long drive for a 23 year old male makes the trip memorable!
