One of the fastest developing cities of the country, Pune is a major IT hub. Several companies’ old as well as new ones are establishing their business centres here as Pune is a great place for
business deals. Apart from an industrial hub, Pune is also a place for Educational excellence in the state of Maharashtra. The cultural capital of state with these qualifications makes me proudly
call myself a ‘Punekar’. I operate for a private IT company. Passed out 1 year back from a premium institute of Mumbai, I was placed and started working here.
I had rented out an apartment and was living here alone. One day Sadhana Maushi called me up to enquire for admissions for Chintu at Pune University. I had planned to visit the university during the weekend as I was off to work on other days.
And there, tomorrow was Saturday and time to pop in Pune University for some information. One of the premier institutions of India is located on the north-western part of the city. I glanced
through the Pune University website and got the route to the place.
A kick got me and my bike off the road. As we passed through the busy roads my phone pinged and it was Sadhana Maushi calling to remind me that I had to go. I usually forgot things easily, but this time I hadn’t. I informed her and moved on. After riding a while came across a huge arc that read ‘University of Pune’. The structure was established on a sprawling area of 411 acres. It was amazing and large. My lower jaws lowered a little more as I sighted the huge central building of the university.
The university houses 46 departments and is called ‘Oxford of The East’. I could see several foreign students moving around the university campus and I wondered if they really belonged to the academy. Yes, they were! Pune University was one among the Indian Universities that had international recognition. Student helped me reach the admission cell and I got a application for Chintu. After all enquiries while leaving, I was reminded of my college days. I missed all those moments and my pals especially. Those moments would be missed. I called up Chintu and told him to study hard as he would enjoy his life if he got admission here. Pune University reminded me of my college days. They were the best!
