Travelling is such a great way to spend your life. If it were my choice, I’d travel all day every day to all kinds of new and exciting places throughout the year for the rest of my life! I know that sounds crazy but what can I say? Being an IT professional and spending hours on my desk isn’t really the life everyone craves. An adventure lover like me trapped in a cubicle is bound to make me crave for a more fulfilling life. A collect a few holidays here and there and make sure I make the most of it. Recently, as recent as September, I was in Pune staying with friends and having the time of my life. Walking back to the apartment we stayed in, I noticed colourful and loud bursts of light in the sky. Upon enquiring, I realized that I had completely forgotten about Ganesh Chaturthi!
The night before Ganesh Chaturthi, with my handy camera by my side, I roamed the streets of Pune, admiring the several public statues of Ganeshas on the streets. It seemed to me as if he was the most loved of all the Hindu Gods in this area! I marvelled at the creativity and energy put into making each of these exquisite Ganeshas. Upon returning back to the apartment, I found my friends talking about Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati. It is a public Ganesh festival that almost everybody participates in, no matter the caste or creed. People from all around the world make it a point to come to celebrate the festival here. This spiked up my interest tenfold and I would not miss it for anything!
The Ganpati festival held was such a grandiose affair! The Ganesh statue itself was so unique and extraordinary that I couldn’t stop clicking more and more pictures of it on my camera! The crowd was ambitious and cheerful while also being too many in number! So after an exhausting yet fulfilling night, we retired back to our apartment. I couldn’t wait to get online and upload the pictures that I took this evening on Facebook to show all my family and friends!
