I had always wondered why everyone always went to the same places every summer on vacation, so I decided to try something new and something not so clichéd, what I found was the beautiful hill station of Mahabaleshwar! In the state of Maharashtra hidden by the Western Ghats I found this quaint retreat that was soon to be a source of happiness to me.

And so wrapped up my work at office and caught the first bus to Mahabaleshwar. The journey itself was an amazing experience! The higher we climbed the more I felt at ease and detached from everything else. Nature rolls out a red carpet with some of the most scenic sights and the cool mountain breeze to greet you. There are many wildlife sanctuaries and reserves to visit too and they house some of the most exotic species of flora and fauna you have ever seen.

To make things better I booked a room at the Brightland holiday resort! They gave me my very own cottage completely furnished with everything from an attached bathroom to a satellite television! From my cottage I could catch a rare glimpse of the Krishna River and it proves to be one of my most cherished memories yet.

The resort is a small village in itself and sometimes I found myself forgetting everything else and just getting lost in its exquisite gardens! Though my stay was long enough at the end I found that I still had much to see and much to experience, so I am definitely going back the next summer for another go at Mahabaleshwar!
